The Bivouac.Live. recordings were recorded from March-November 2006 in New York City and Shanghai and featured live performances from well-known and obscure experimental musicians in some of the most interesting venues I have ever been. The experimental music community was a warm and inviting one, meeting new and interesting people was just a simple matter of seeing them perform. Their performances were mostly electro-acoustic and acoustic performances but one never know when the creative beast was let out. Styles ranging from Avant-Jazz duos, laptop noise, noise, old school (yes, it’s un-hyphenated) record players, to turntablists playing broken records and destroying new ones were all heard at these formal and sometimes informal gathering of old and soon to be friends. The Bivouac.Live recordings is a ‘living’ project that will be added to as more performances are recorded.
The following tracks were recorded at the following venues:
Tonic | Goodbye Blue Mondays | Chez Bushwick | The Foundry | Issue Project Room | The Stone |Yu Yin Tang- Shanghai | 4 Live (now closed) | Live Bar- Shanghai
